DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRIES.
♦ LOCAL SUB-COMMITTEES PROPOSED. "Very sound" was the description applied by the president of the Canterbury Manufacturers' Association (Mr F. L. Hutchinson) to a proposal put forward by the Development of Industries Committee last night that sub-committees should be appointed In each of the four main centres In New Zealand to assist the Development of Industries Committee, Wellington. The following recommendations by the committee were unanimously approved:— 1 "(1) That a letter be sent to the Development of Industries Committee in Wellington, drawing attention to the necessity for the appointment of sub-committees, which should be set up officially in the four main centres. "(2) That the federation be to arrange for monthly lists to be farwarded to it by public bodies Government departments, setting out the goods brought here and "(3) That a letter be sent to the federation, asking that manufacturers and importers publish lists of goods which they import " "(4) That a letter be sent to the Department of Industries and Commerce asking (a) for a list of goods not mri. in New Zealand but on which were collected last year, and (b) for the total amount of this duty col. lected annually for the last three years. *
