IDENTITY ESTABLISHED.
WINNER OF £2OOO PRIZE IN ART UNION. (press associatiok telegram.) HAWERA, July 12. The identity of the winner of the £2OOO prize in the "Luck at Last" art union has been established. He is Mr Fred Hart, a farm labourer, of Hawera, and a returned soldier, aged 36. He is understood to be a single man. Difficulty has been experienced in ascertaining his whereabouts, apparently through his endeavour to avoid publicity. The rumour was current this morning that he intended to leave by train lor Wellington. This information was sufficient to attract to the station a number of bright salesmen, prepared to sell the fortunate man anything from farms to motor-cars and life insurance. They were disappointed when he failed to appear. He left by car, having anticipated such a reception. The winning ticket was purchased at Palmerston North, Mr Hart using the nom de plume "Passing Through," as he was travelling from Napier to
