MANY DROWNED.
CHINESE STEAMER SINKS. JAPANESE LAUNCH WRECKED. (Received July 11, 9.36 p.m.; KOBE, July 11. A Japanese liner yesterday morning sank the Chinese steamer Tonan between Shanghai and Dairen, drowning more than 100. On the same afternoon a motorboat with 130 excursionists returning to Shikoku Island, Japan, across the Inland Sea, struck a rock and was wrecked. Fishermen hurried to the rescue, picking up 27. The others are believed to have been drowned. There was a swift current at the place where the accident happened.
