MISS M. E. FRAZER. 'PRESS ASSOCIATION TELZOBAM.'/ WELLINGTON, July 11. The death has occurred after a serious illness of Mi?s Muriel Edith Frazer, elder daughter of his Honour Mr Justice Frazer, judge of the Arbitration Court of New Zealand. MRS ELLEN JERVIS. [THE PRESS Special Serrlce.] AUCKLAND, July 11. The death occurred to-day in an Auckland private hospital of a very old resident, Mrs Ellen Jervii, in her one hundred and second year. As Miss Ellen Dodds, aged 17, sh~ at rived in Auckland from Sydney in a cutter in 1849, and landed on the beach at the foot of Shortland street. In honour of the arrival of the vessel some Maoris danced a haka of welcome, which greatly impressed her. About six years after her landing in Auckland Miss Dodds married Mr Henry Mahon Jervis, who had come to New Zealand at the inaguration of agricultural settlement in the colony, and who had arrived in Auckland soon after it was founded by Governor Hobson. Later he was connected with the firm of L. D. Nathan and Company, and on retiring from that business became an agent for various shipping firms, and had a good deal to do with the promotion of trade with the Fiji Islands. All Mrs Jervis's life after her arrival in New Zealand was spent in Auckland, except for occasional trips to Wellington and Dargaville. Of 10 children five are still living.
