FOOTBALL.
A NEW CLUB. The men on the Summit road relief work at a recent meeting decided to form a football club, to be called the Summit Road Football Club. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr H. G. Ell; president, Mr E. J. McEachen; vice-presidents, Messrs S. B. Turnbull, H. M. Blazey, and E. T. Kensington; secretary, Mr S. Turnbull; treasurer, Mr A. H. McKay; committee, Messrs W. Harrnan, L. Higgins, G. Kett, G. Brunton, C. Ward, and R. Chalmers; club captain, Mr L. Higgins; coach, Mr H. M. Blazey. It was decided to enter two teams in the Mayor's cup competitions. RUGBY LEAGUE. CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. At last evening's meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Rugby League, Mr P. Kirton said he understood that the Waimairi Club would be entering a senior grade team. Mr Winter Cole was chairman of the meeting. It was decided to ask A. Pahi, who made application for reinstatement, to appear before the committee. Permission to play for the Riccarton senior team was granted R. Falgar, formerly of the Hornby Club. It was reported by the chairman of the Junior Management Committee (Mr P. Kirton) that two .players, F. Jones (Sydenham) and F. Riley (Addington), had been ordered off on Saturday. Jones had been cautioned and Riley stood down until he appeared before the committee. The offer of the Sydenham Cricket Club of the use of the Sydenham Park pavilion at a fee of two guineas for the season was accepted. Notice of motion was given by Mr Kirton as follows: "That the power of postponing games be deleted from the Grounds Committee's duties, and added to those of the Match Commititee." Junior Committee. The entry of a third grade team by a , new club, Pirates (Phillipstown), was received at a meeting of the Junior Management Committee, Mr P. Kirton presiding. The registrations of 20 new players were accepted. Quartermain, formerly of Linwood Club, was granted a clearance to Pirates, subject to the consent of the Linwood Club.
