OBITUARY.
MR J. P. BOYLE. Mr J. P. Boyle, who died at Pahiatua at the week-end, "was born at Oroua Downs 42 years ago. On leaving school ho joined the railway service at Cross Creek. He saw 19 years' service, being stationod at different times at Taihape, Palmerston North, and Wellington. For several years he was an engine-driver on the Main Trunk line. In recent years he was licensee of an hotel in Wellington, and later of one in Palmerston North. After that he was living privately in Wellington until 18 months ago, when ho took over the lease of an hotel in Pahiatua. Mr Boyle leaves a widow and two sons. Ho is also survived by four brothers and three sisters. They are Messrs Henry Boyle (Christchnrch), William (Wellington), James (New Plymouth), and Edward (Foxton); Mrs E. O'Sullivan (Waimate), Mrs Peter Neilson (Fairlie), and Mrs Ben Johnson (Woodville). MR W. C. ULLMANN.

LONDON, December 14.
The death has occurred of Mr W. C. Ullmann, a railway engineer, of South Australia. He was the chief engineer to the Sulphide Corporation in New South Wales, and subsequently designed the East Ham tramway for the first municipal electric service in London.
