MAIL FROM ENGLAND.
DUE IN CHRISTCHURCH TO-DAY.
An English mail of seven letter bags and 475 parcel receptacles is due in Christchurch to-day, ex the lonic, which reached Wellington yesterday | from London and Southampton. The last mail from Australia be- ! fore Christmas will be that of the Zealandia, from Sydney. The Christchurch portion of this mail, which is sure to be a very considerable one, will ar- ; nve here on December 21st. English and American mail will reach Chnstchurch on December 28th, ex the Niagara from Vancouver. That also win ta a h eaV y ma ji, i.no Chief Postmaster (Mr F. J. Shanks) said yesterday that although the Post Office mailroom staff had been kept busy lately—on Wednesday with an Australian mail,, and on Tuesday with big English and American mail —next week would be more than usually clear of incoming overseas mails, considering, the nearness of Christmas.
