General .Sir Archibald MontgomeryMussingberd has becu appointed Chief of the General Stuff, in succession to Field-Marshal Sir George Francis Milne. [General Sir Archibald MontgomeryMassingberd served with distinction in the South African and European Wars, and has been Adjutant-General to tho Forces and A.D.C.-General to tho King since 19.'<1. During the Great War he was mentioned in dispatches nine times and received many decorations for his services. He was Dcputy-C'liief of the General Staff in India from 1920 to 1922, and he commanded the 53rd Welsh Division, T.F., from 1922 to 1921!. From 1923 to J920 he commanded the First Division, and in 1927 he 'was ColonelCommandant It.A. From 1928 to .1931 he was General Officer Commanding-in-Cliief, Southern Command, and in 1030 he was appointed a General. He is 01 years of age.]
