GODLESS LEAGUE.
FIFTY CENTRES IN BRITAIN. LORD GLASGOW'S PROTEST. LONDON, August 80. Lord Glasgow, in a letter to "The Times," draws attention to the formation of the "League of the Godless" —an attack on capitalism through religion—which at present has fifty centres in Britain and which aims also at the spread of the anti-religious movement through teachers in elementary schools.
Me calls for greater support for the Christian protest movement in defence of religion and morality in Britain against tho Bolshevik menace. Lord Glasgow, who states that exhibitions of blasphemous caricatures of religious subjects are being held and that a blasphemous play was recently produced in Battersea, declares that tho Government must not tolerate the spread of the anti-religious Communist virus among school-children. He adds that thero is evidence that the Soviet lias intensified the persecution of Christians, aiming at crushing religion in' Russia btefore tho end of 1933.
Meanwhile, the protest movement, although supported by individual churchmen, lacked support from the Anglican leaders who were afraid of mixing in politics although tho Catholio .Church is taking a strong line throughout the world.
