HOOD RENOVATION.
CLEANING AND PATCHING. To clean a black hood, first wash it thoroughly to remove dust, using soap to take off any grease, as petrol rapidly perishes the coating. Then allow it to dry thoroughly, 'f» po"" 1 * use any good brand of ooot polish liberally applied, and well rubbed in with u brush. Allow it to stand for some time, and then polish thoroughly wUh clean rag. This treatment is better than many hood dressings, as it gives a softer and more natural-looKing gloss, besides waterproofing the material and tending to prevent it trom cracking when folded" Other kinds of hood material, most ot the modern ones being of the "pepper-and-salt" type, are best renovated by vacuum cleaning or vigorous brushing. The application of a dressing to a faded khaki hood is satisfactory, both for waterproofing and appearance, if the hood is kept erected, but it makes it too stiff for folding. The use of a black dressing on a light hood is not usually satisfactory. Quite the neatest method of patching any hood is by the use of a tube natch stuck on the inside with rubber solution. Apply several coats \ot solution to the material, letting each coat dry. ___^___
