BRITISH WAR LOAN CONVERSION.
PAYMENT OF BONUS. (CNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPn—COPYRIGHT-) (Received August 10th, 7.45 p.m.) LONDON, August 10. Official returns indicate that 15,703,000 "cash bonuses were paid to Saturday, so it is inferred that the total sum converted during July was over rather than untler £6,600,000. Owing to tho weakness of gilt edged securities and the • buoyancy of American stocks the War Wn bonds fell to £97. but later rallied to £97 15s. The rcgrettablo fall gives an advantage to those who exchange now from the War Loan over patriotic holders who responded to the conversion appeal in July. The "Financial News" thinks that the official announcement of the result of the War Loan conversion, which is now imminent, will restoro most of the losses the gilt-edged prices may have suffered.
