RABBIT-BREEDING INDUSTRY.

THIRD ANNUAL SHOW. The Canterbury Rabbit Breeders' Association of New Zealand, Inc., commenced its third annual show in the Amusement Park at the Winter Show on Saturday. The rapid progress made by this new industry during tho past year was proved by tho record number of exhibitors and entries. Altogether there were approximately 170 entries, constituting the largest exhibition of industrial rabbits over held in New Zealand. Tho practical side of the industry was catered for with a very fine display of Angora wool and garments ami a number of fur garments manufactured locally. All exhibits were ot a particularly high standard, and with the exhibition of the latest fur breeds of Sables and Kexes, a most attractive display was made. The show was officially opened by Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., who during the course of his remarks congratulated the Canterbury Babbit Breeders' Association on the organisation of such a successful show. Ho was particularly pleased, he said, that with widespread unemployment throughout the country tho industrial rabbit industry was making such fine progress. After Mr Sullivan officially declared the show open he was heartily thanked by Mr W. G. Wright, tho president of the Canterbury Rabbit Breeders' Association, for his interest in the industry. The judge (Mr G. Radford) stated that the exhibits were the best he had ever seen, the Angoras, Sables, and Rexes, being of exceptionally high standard. He expressed his surprise at the great improvement made in the general standard of exhibits since the previous show, at which-ho had judged. Much credit was due to Mr A. Lawrence and the committee for the excellent arrangements made. Following are tho awards: — SHOW OLASSESS (Judge: Mr G. Kadford.) Chinchilla buck, registered (1): A. Lawrence 1, Avenel I'arm 2, H. A.
