JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS.

There was a largo attendance at the Jubilee celebrations held by the Noble v Grand and members of the Ridgely Lodge, 1.0.0. F., No. 36, held in the Caledonian Ilall last night. Bro. E. Braggins, N.G., acted as M.C., aud other members of the Committee in charge of arrangements were Messrs L. P. "White, G. D. Smart, L. Bierman, G. Morrow, W. Greenslade, G. Rickard, and li. Frazer. Special credit for the success of the entertainment is duo to the untiring effort of the ladies' committee, comprising Mesdames W. Greenslade, G. Morris, E. Braggins, G. Scarlett, H. Garrard, Jones, J. Biggs, G. D. Smart, A. Taylor, C. Chamberlain, J. Macfarlane, \V. McConnell, and R. Frazer, and Miss E. Watt. Ashby's Dance Band supplied the dance music, and items were given by Mrs W. P. Pearce, Miss Eileen Boyce, and Bro. N. Sumner, Bro. R. Lake, and Mr S. Andrews. A short address of welcome wa3 given by the Noble Grand, Bro. E. Braggins. The Mayor, Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P., was the guest of honour. Amongst those present were Mesdames H. Ashby, J. Hanson, J. MOTHERS' UNION. HORNBY BRANCH. The monthly meeting of tho Hornby branch of the Mothers' Union was held in the Parish Hall, Hornby. An admission service was conducted by the Rev. Archdeacon York (Upper Riccarton). Mesdames Hayles and Airey wero admitted. Miss A. Jones was the organist, and Mrs H. Jones presided. Several members from Prebbleton were present. Misses Jones and Carpenter sang songs. It was decided to hold a "Buy and Sell" stall at the next meeting. Amongst those present were Mesdames H. Jones, Bray, Teepe, N. Davis, Davis, Dove, Scott, Palmer, Hayles, Poolcy, Day, E. G. Walker, B. Walker, Yateman, Cherry, G. Walker (Prebbleton), Galway (Cashmere), and Robinson. Hostesses were Mesdames Scott, B. Walker, and Robinson. FAREWELL PARTY. A pleasant evening party was given, by Mr and Mrs John Provan at their residence, St. James street, Avonside, in honour of Miss Jean McGhie, who is leaving next week by the s.s. Rangitiki for a visit to Scotland. An enjoyable time was passed with games and music. Mr J. Provan, sen., on behalr of those present, wished the guest every happiness. "KITCHEN" GIFT PARTY. Tho Misses Joan and Nance Luxton were hostesses at a "kitchen" evening party in honour of Miss Gladys Holliday, whose marriage takes place next month. Games, competitions, 0 and dancing were enjoyed. Prizes were won by Misses Heather Fisher, Beatrice Wolfendale, and Greta Stevenson, Messrs R. Fisher, A. Wolfendale, and H. Flanagan. Miss Holliday was the recipient of many useful gifts. "KITCHEN" EVENING. A "kitchen" evening party was heid at the borne of Mrs Chisnall, Marshland road, in honour of Miss Ellie Free, on the occasion of her approaching marriage. Guests included members of tho Marshland Basketball Club, of which Miss Free is captam, and their friends. Music and games were en'Mrs Chisnall (president of the club), extended to Miss Free the good wishes of the guests. _ Those present included Mesdames D. Boyd and G. Chisnall, Misses E. Free, J.
