HOT CROSS. BUNS.
THOUSANDS CONSUMED DURING EASTER.
The consumption of hot cross buns in - Christchurch • during Easter has increased rather than decreased, according to one of the largest baking houses in "Christchuxch, and it would seem that the City averages nearly one bun per head of population. All the bakers who manufacture large quantities have to employ extra labour lor the particular task and the amount of flour used to make sufficient buns •to supply Christchurch-needs runs into some tons. . The head of one of the large bakeries in Christchurch, stated to a representative of Thb Press that, as compared with last year, the 1932 hot cross bun trade had been" a little better. 'Two tons of flour had "been made into buns in his bakery, totalling '60,000 buns; and the advance on last year's output was equivalent to two sacks of flour.
