CANADIAN COAL PURCHASES.
PREFERENCE PROBLEM. TRADING WITH AMERICA. (UNITED PHESB, ASSOCIATION—BY ELXCTEIO TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, March 23. Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, the Prime Minister, in answering a questioner in the House'of Commons, said the subject of extending sales of British coal to, Canada was being carefully considered in the preparations for the Ottawa Conference. Mr J. Bailfcy (Labour): Will you make it clear that Canada will receive no more preference unless she buys more coal from Great Britain and less from the United States! Mr Mac Donald: I am sure that the Ministers going to Ottawa will note the observation. \ Sir John Simon told Mr P. J. BT. Hannpn that the Argentine Government had made'enquiries in reference to sending a trade mission to Britain, but the Ambassador, was informed that, in view of Britain's desire, not to prejudice the Ottawa Conference, no useful purpose could be-, served by the delegation's coming at present.
