NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TILEGRA.It.) WELLINGTON, E'ecember 8. The Counoil of the New Zealand Football Association met t'o-night. Mr J?. Campbell extended a welcome to Mr A. J. Hyder, who has just returned from a twelve months' visit to Great Britain. Mr Hyder said he had seen the officials in Sydney. It was suggested that the Australian team should comprise fourteen ( players and a manager, and to reduce expenses that a flat rate of £2 5 s per week should be paid to players. The Council thought the team should be fifteen. Mr H. I. Graves said the arrangement was that New Zealand should pay all and stake all, and they should stick to that. The same would apply when a New Zealand team went to Australia. It was agreed to pay a flat rate allowance of £2 5s per week, the proposed itinerary providing for five Wednesday and six Saturday games, to be forwarded to the Commonwealth Association for approval. A letter from General W. Madocks conlimed the cabled intimation that the English Football Association had refused loans to two New Zealand Associations. The English Football Association's report said it had made a grant of £IOOO to the Canadian Association towards meeting the deficiency on the tour of the English team in Canada. The chairman said the trophy presented to New Zealand by the English Football Association had cost the New Zealand Council £960 since it was received in 1926. General Madocks said in his letter that it - semed impracticable to send a team to tour New Zealand owing to the difficulty of collecting a team, the members of which could be absent for the requisite time. In any case, the expense involved was too great. It was agreed to grant the.following loans: —--Auckland Association, £I2OO for five years at 5J per cent., provided the security was approved; (janterbury, £ISOO, and Mosgiel £BOO on similar' terms.'
