The question of fruit being brought in from the islands was discussed, and the following motion carried :- "That this meeting views with alarm the allocation of £30,000 for the development of the island fruit trade which will probably bring in other diseases, and that the islands should be encouraged to grow more fruits, such as pinoapples and bananas, which do not carry diseases." At the conclusion of the regular business, the Government Orchard Instructor (Mr B. G. Goodwin) delivoreu a brief address on the cultivation, manuring and spraying of stone fruit trees.

Dealing with spraying he said the question had been raised as to whether it was possible to mix the oil with the Bordeaux mixture. Practical application had shown that while oil in the proportion of one in 30 or one in 10 would emulsify properly, it was doubtful if one in 20 would, and ns this was the strength recommended for spring snraving. the experiment was a doubtful one. The oil spray could be aoplied right on top of the Bordeaux if necessary.
