FOREST OP POLES.
PREPARING FOR TROLLEYBUSES. "1 have noticed corresponde»ee in the newspapers lately about the forest of poles up Shirley road," said Mr W. Hayward (chairman) at yesterday's meeting of the Chrißtchurch Tramway Board. "The good people who are writing overlook the fact that the old poles will be removed shortly. The number will be reduced by 50 per cent." The Works and Traffic Committee reported:—The necessary poles for the new trolley-bus service to North Beach, via Shirley, are now in position. These will take the place of smaller poles now carrying telephone and M.E.D. wires, but these smaller poles cannot, of course, be removed until the transfer of their wires to the new poles has been made.
