HOME IDEALS.

ADDRESS BY MRS W. G. ROBERTS. "Home Ideals" was the subject of a talk given by Mrs W. G. Roberts to the Y.M.C.A. Parents' Association last evening. Mrs Roberts spoke to an in- 1 terested audience, and answered numerous questions. There were a number of characteristics essential in home life, said Mrs Roberts, the names of which began with the third letter of the alphabet. Confidence, co-operation, courtesy, contentment, chivalry, control, and charity, were a combination of virtues which were essential in forming a child's character. Confidence between husband and wife, and their co-operation with j their children went a long way towards solving the main problems which children had' to face, and the taking of children into the family council was of the utmost usefulness in achieving the best results from family life. Mrs Roberts regretted the manner jn which some mothers spoke to their children without a "please" or a "thank you." Children noticed these things, she said, and common politeness would go a long way towards peace and happiness. The teaching of chivalry was something which brought a little colour into life, and the greatest virtue of all —charity—taught the elements of unselfish service. Among some of the vices which should be avoided were capriciousness, a carping attitude, and endless criticism. The obliteration of these and the adoption of the maxim "Be yourself what you want your children to be," were steps towards the attainment of homes of peace and love. BIRTH OF ROYAL PRINCE.
