MILITARY EXAMINATIONS.
— The following officers were success-; ful in passing the. "C" (practical) examination for promotion to the rank of major:—Captains E. C D. Withell, W. A, Breach, and H. K. Kippenberger. All of these officers ate from the Ist Battalion. Canterbury Regiment. r.f TH© following non-commissioned officers were successful in passing the practical part of the examination for first appointment to ' commissions: — Company-Sergeant-Major R. N. Crainpton, Ist Battalion Canterbury Regiment; Company-Sergeant-Major R. R. Munro, Ist Cadet Battalion,; Canterbury Regiment (Boys' High School); Sergeant ■L. W, Peperell, Southern Depot Corps Signals; Sergeant L. P. Harker. 9th Battery New Zealand Field Artillery: Corporal F. Edwards, and Corporal B. I. Bassett, Ist- Battalion' Canterbury Regiment.
