1 "■* t CANTERBURY EXECUTIVE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury Rugby League met last evening, those present being Messrs W. Healey (chairman), R. McQloin, C. G. Derrett, 0. Allen, L. Amos, P. Kirton, W. Rogers, A. Drury, A. Davis, and 8. M. Richardson' (secretary). The Linwood Club notified the committee that it was in favour of affiliating with the Sports Protection Association, and suggested that if the Centre contemplated affiliating that it do so before the end of the present season. Mr McQloin said it was purely a club matter, and had nothing to do with the League. Mr Rogers said that the League had decided that if all clubs were in favour of affiliating It would do so itself. Mr Richardson Mid the decision of the League was that the matter was entirely one for the clubs. Mr Allen said the League had decided to endorse the disqualifications of the Association. It was agreed that the matter be held over until all of the clubs had defined their attitude. A Utter was received from the Runanga Club asking for a copy of the rules and conditions of the Thacker Shield. "The team is looking forward to its game in Christchurch, and is very confident," the letter stated The secretary reported having supplied the information. At the direction of the Reserves Committee of the City Council the Town Clerk (Mr J. S. Neville) wrote acknowledging receipt of the League's letter applying for a refund of the proportion *of the fees paid by the League for the use of football grounds in City reserves in respect of tile period daring which these grounds had been withdrawn from use. The committee could not see its way to recognise the claim. "In this connexion," stated the letter, "1 am to point out that no period for which the grounds may be used is mentioned when applications are invited for their use. I am also to point out that only three grounds used by clubs affiliated with your League are affected by the Council's decision." Mr Derrett: I am afraid we can't do anything. ... It is reported that owing to unforeseen circumstances arising the visit of a Canterbury senior representative team to the West Coast had been abandoned. It was decided to Invite the Otago League to send its team to Christchurch to play Canterbury before the end of the season, Saturday's Hatches.
