BREACH OF CONFIDENCE ALLEGED.
COUNCILLORS WANT MORE INFORMATION. Mystery shrouded the last* item of business dealt with in open meeting by the City Council last night. Cr. J. W. Beanland enquired whether anything had been heard from the man who had alleged that certain information had got out from th© Council. The Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer): We have heard nothing from him. Cr. Beanland: Well, I think we should insist on a reply. Cr. E. H. Andrews: Did he not refuse to name the Councillor to you, your Worship? —Yes. Perhaps he still persists in that refusal. The Mayor: There is no doubt about his allegation, which was made to me in the presence of the Town Clerk. It was so serious a thing that ive should certainly demand a reply. It was decided to again ask the man who made the allegation to reply to the Council's request to nam© the Councillor, who, he alleged, had divulged certain information.
