CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS. I ; (PBESB ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) WELLINGTON, August 30, Loading the field for practically the whole of the distance, R. A. Hose, the ex-Aus-tralian champion, was first man home for the first time in New Zealand in the cross country championships at the Hutt Park to-day. , The teams ra.ce and championship shield wept to Otago, after a stern struggle with Wellington for honours. Throughout the best part of .the race Wellington'were prominent in team work, but in the dying stages -Otago : took command and won by a comfortable margin in points. Although Hobo was first man home, the individual championship goes to H. J. Brown of the Wunganui-Taranaki Centre as the form# was not eligible to receive the title, act being a member of the team.
