YESTERDAY'S , TRANSACTIONS. There was an average volume of business done on call yesterday, with the bulk of the turnover on the afternoon call. Bank (ex div.). 100 Goldsbrougb, Mort. 100 N.Z. Refng. 'los paid). 200 Timaru.Gas. 550 N.Z. Breweries. 150 Staples Brewery. 400 Tooths Brewery., 300 British Tobacco. 300 Dunlop Rubber. 150 Electro. Zino (ord.). 1000 Mt'. Lycll. Christchurch Gas 54 per cent., 1934, debentures changed hands at £IOO 10s. Four and a half per cent, tax free Government issues, due 1938 and 1939, claimed stronger buyers at £97 15s, but holders were reticent. Commercial Bank of Australia eased to 21s, and more wero offerod at 20s lid, buyers at 20s 9d; the new issue (5s paid) nlised 6s, sellers staying in at that figure, buyers at 6s. Commercial Bank of Sydney shares dropped to £l9 15s, the market closing £l9 15s sellers, £l9 12s buyers. English, Scottish, and Australian Bank shares (ex dividend of 3s per share) were firm with business at £6 3s 6d, closing quotes, ,£6 2s 6d buyers, £6, 6s sellers. Buyers of National Insurance shares (cum dividend) moved up to 14s 9d, sellers at 14s lid. Goldsbrougb, Morts were firmer with business at .30s.4Qd, closing quotations Id on either side. N.Z. Refrigerating Company 10s paid shares remained at ss, the market closing 4s lOd buyers, 6s 3d sellers/ Grey Valley Collieries (cum .dividend of 3 per cent.) were wanted at 24s 6dj no sellers offering. ' Timaru Gas shares realised 22s and more were offered at that price, buyers at 21s 9d. New Zealand Breweries shares declined to 52s 6d, and there were further sellers at 52s Bd, buyers at 525. Tooths Brew, ery shares had dealings at 31s 7d, 31s Cd, 31s* 4jd, and 31s 4d, and there were further buyers at 31a 7d, sellers at 31s 9d. Staples Brewery shares were firmer with dealings at 48s 9d, closing quotes 8d on either Bide British Tobacco shares dropped to 89s 6d, 80s 2d, and 89s Dunlop Rubbers were, fractionally weaker with dealings at 16e 6d and 16s 7d. buyers staying at 16s 7d, sellers at 16s 9d. Electrolytic Zinc ordinary shares were taken at 245. Mt. Lyells ran down from 23s 6d to 27s lid, closing at 28s, and there were further buyers at 27s lid, sellers at 28s id.
