SERMONS ON MODERNISM.
BOOK BY DR. H. D. A. MAJOR. CraoM oca oww cobmssfojhiisnt.) LONDON, February 13. "Thirty Years. After," a book of sermons by Dr. H. P. A. Major, is reviewed in the "Church of England Newspaper." Dr. Major's Book contains seven delivered at various places during his holiday in New Zealand.
"They form a persuasive tonfessio fidei," says the journal in question, "couched in unteehnical language and intended to reassure conservative Church men. In New Zealand they will doubtless meet with a ready welcome, And in this country friends of the author will be glad to possess a book whose chief value lies in its characteristic reflection of his personality. "These sermons are typical both in style and content of Dir. Major's preaching, and deal with such subjects as the Simplicity of Christianity, the Ideal of the Church, the Problem of Suffering, Three Gospels of Life, the contribution of the British Empire to the civilisation of the World, Six Golden Sayings, and the Christian Modernist. To the present writer the sixth sermon addressed to students makes especial appeal, but the whole volume will be welcomed by students and friends of Dr. Major, who will find in it th 6 echoes of the living voice of a beloved teacher.''
