CANBERRA, March 27. Mr P. E. Coleman, Federal member of Parliament, has been selected to represent the Commonwealth Government at tho International Labour Office (conference at Geneva.
GAS VICTIM DEAD. (Received March 27th, 7.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 27. The death is announced of Miss Agnes Finney, aged 80, one of tho women who were gassed in Monday's tragedy at Annandale. SOVIET CONSUL REQUEST. CANBERRA, March 27. Mr J. H. Scullin (Prime Minister) explains that the Soviet has asked, through the British authorities, whether tho Commonwealth would object to the appointment of a Russian representative in Australia. He replied that such Consular Agent would bo received subject to tho usual undertakings regarding propaganda. Australia had no intention of seeking official representation in Russia.
DESTRUCTIVE EMUS. SYDNEY, March 26. Eden, on tho South Coast, lias its troubles, even as did the older Garden of Eden; but a bird, not a snake, is causing the tribulation. Emus are reported to be killing fullgrown sheep by repeatedly jumping on their backs in sportive fashion. Pigs have been done to death in a similar manner.
ALLEGATIONS DENIED,
SYDNEY, March 27.
In tho Legislative Council, Mr J. F. Coates drew attention to an allegation that he and three other Labour members, Messrs L. W. Ryan, R. Mahony, and J. W. Percival, were concerned in the receipt of £SOO graft money to secure the defeat of the Transport Bill. They denied the accusation, and asked that a commission of enquiry be appointed. Tho Attorney-General (Mr F. S. Boyce) replied that if sufficient facts were adduced, an investigation would be orderted.
