As the outcome of the deputation of representatives of the interests concerned with the proposed improved lnvnut of Cathedral square, which on the Cathedral Chapter on Wednesday, it is understood that the Chapter set up a subcommittee to consider the proposals submitted the deputation, and to report on them to a special meeting of the Chapter. It is realised by those interested in the subject that, as legislation will be necessary to give effect to any alterations that mav be decided upon, it is essential, if the Bill is to be passed bv Parliament, that there should bo unanimity, and it is towards that end that efforts are being concentrated. It is difficult to foretell what the decision of the church authorities will be, but thev are, it is believed, approaching the subject with a view if at all possible, of meeting the wishes of th<> citizens, always providing that it can be done consistently with the trust in respect of the Cathedral grounds which has been reposed in them.
