Mr Hayward said that it had been decided to order chassis only and to call for tenders in Christclmrch for the bodies in order to give work to Christchurch coaehbuilders. Tenders for bodies would be called for shortly. After the committee set up to consider the tendersi received h&n fined them down to two, the Boar<3 thought it wise to cable to London' for eypert advice as to which of the two was to he preferred, and the expert consulted had qflvised the acceptance of the English Electric Company's tender, and this was done.
