The official opening ceremony in connexion with the municipal organ has been arranged for March 15th, instead of March 1/th. Th© City Council authorities are making the arrangements. Dr. J. C. Bradshaw has been engaged to give a recital for the occasion. "It looks as if North Linwood will be made the parish dust-bin' if Cr. H. T. J. Thacker's motioiij to have'th© destructor moved to a site on or near the Bromley Sewage Farm, is carried," was a remark by Mr G. T. Baker at Tuesday's meeting of' the North Linwood Burgesses' Association. The erection of a hangar at Dunlop Field, the Haw-era Aero Club's landing ground, was completed yesterday. Last October a number of residents

of North Linwood had drawn up a list of streets which were in bad order and had asked the City Council to attend to them. Those streets, however, were still just the same as, if not worse than,

they were in October, said Mr G. T. Baker at the meeting of the North Linwood Burgesses's Association. The meeting decided to ask Cr. F. Cooke and other Councillors to inspect the streets.

A strong protest was made by Cr. H. Kitson at last night's meeting of the Waimairi Council, regarding the county's inspector being asked to attend a fortnight's refresher course at the request of the Department for Health. Mr Kitson said it was a great inconvenience to the council for the inspector to be absent for so long. Three days should be sufficient, and if that time was not, then in the future the inspector should not be allowed to attend. The council agreed to the suggestion.

A conference of parties interested in or affected by the Motor Vehicle .Regulations issued in 1928—local authorities, motor bodies, the motor trade, the police, etc.—is to be held towards the end of this month, for the purpose of revising the regulations and endeavouring to remove irritating anomalies, and ns far ns practicable give a Dominion instead of a merely local application to the general principles embodied in the regulations.— Press Service.

The cause for the complaints regarding the condition of that portion of Lincoln road in the Waimairi County, from Sunnyside towards town, shortly is to be removed. Tenders are to be called soon for the reconstruction of this stretch of road.

An appreciable drop in the maximum demand at the Lake Coleridge power station was recorded during the week ended the 9th inst.. in sympathy with the more summer-tike weather that has been experienced. The power house maximum was 21,200 k.w. (previous week, 22.360 k.w.) and was recorded between 11.30 and noon on the sth inst. At the Addington sub-station the maximum was 16,144 k.w. (previous week. 16,812 k.w.) and was recorded between 11 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. on the 6th inst. The lako level was at 1672.05 ft, previous week, 1i572,04ft.
