MAN CUTS OFF HAND.
ALLEGED ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. (PMSS ASSOCIATION TSLBSBAX.) GISBOBNB, July 8. Whether depressed by his solitude, or suffering from temporary delusions, a man engaged on a bush contract on a station near Gisborne is believed to have attempted to take his own life in an extraordinary manner last week, leaving what evidently was intended to be a last letter to his mate, written m his own blood. Returning to the camp in the eveni j, the mate discovered the man with both his wrists cut and suffering from loss of blood. He succeeded in persuading the injured man to allow him to attend to his injuries, but subsequently, during the absence of his mate, the apparently demented man cut off one of his hands at the wrist. He is now recovering from his selfinflicted injuries and later will be charged with attempted suicide.
