OBITUARY.

MRS A. J. MILSOM. The death is announced of Mrs Amelia Jane Milsom, who passed away on Saturday evening, after an illness extending over many months. The late- Mrs Milsom, who was in her 78th year, was horn in England, but arrived, with her parents, in New Zealand when a child, her father being one of the pioneer surveyors of Canterbury, n-ho did extensive and very valuable exploration work in the early days of the province. She had resided practically ail her life in Canterbury, where, like many of her contemporaries, she had calmly and gallantly bore the hardships and overcome the difficulties experienced by settlers in the infant colony. Her husband. Mr H. J. Milsom. died about thirty years ago. A capable, clever woman, kindly and generous. Mrs Milsom had many friends who will be grieved to hear of her death, and sympathy will be extended to the members of her family Dr F. H. B. Milsom, Auckland, Mr M. Milsom. and Mrs C. M. Ollivier, of Christchurch.
