M'CONACHY IN HOSPITAL.
LINDRUM V. LOCAL PLAYERS.
The billiards match, of 18,000 up, between Walter Lindrum and Clark McConachy, which has been in progress at Nee's National Billiards Parlours, High, street, has been abandoned owing to Mr McConachy's illness. Mr McConachy is now a patient of the Christchurch Hospital. Lindrum will continue for the week in games against leading Christchurch players. Yesterday he began a match of 4000 up against Mr W. Smith, conceding halt the game to start. Lindrum was in good form at both of yesterday's sessions. In the afternoon he made breaks of 268, 254, and 157, and Smith produced breaks of 47 and 49. In the evening Lindrum's breaks were 481, 208, and 145, playiDg an all-round game. Smith made two nice breaks of 49 and 44. Lindrum was the winner in two games of snooker. In the billiards match the final scores were:— Lindrum, in play 2000, Smith 2298. During the remaining sessions Lindrum will give talks on the game, illustrating them with various strokes, including trick and fancy shots. His match with Smith will be resumed at 3 p.m. today.
