In the House of Eepreaentatives the Assistant Minister for Health, Sir Neville Howse, announced that the Commonwealth had purchased 10 grammes of radium, valued at £IOO,OOO. He explained that there was, among Federal Ministers, a desire that there should be no delay in deciding whether the extraordinary claims made, particularly in the United States, for the radium treatment, were justified. It was recognised that there had been an alarming spread of cancer in Australia, and, in fact, all over the world.
