WILDING SHIELD. The rontost between Wellington (challengers) and Canterbury (holders) for the Anthony Wilding Memorial Shield, which is to take piece at Wilding Park on Friday and Saturday, should provide the finest exhibition of lawn tennis seen fn the Dominica for some considerable period. The Wellington team looks, on paper, a most formidable combination, containing as it does, E. D. Andrews, the present tingles champion of New Zealand, N. Wilson, the present Wellington Provincial champion, and the France trothrn. both of nhom ar<- ranked very high in Dominion tel.n is. The team ealected to represent the Province, after a series of trialjnntchcs, is headed by Q. Oilivier, who has*' gained tho New Zealand Singles ; title on no less than six occasions. A match between Oilivier aud the present champion, Andrews, should prove a thrilling contest. Canterbury's second man is I. a. Seay, who ably represented New Zealand In Australia last season, and who, at the present time, it playing great tennis. The other members are T. W. Patterson, who has been provincial champion on more than one occasion, and who has played him-self-into ths team, and the junior, C. Angas. whoi3 rise to a prominent position on the Canterbury ranking list* lias created much comment.

INTERPROVINCIAL MATCH. The inter-provincial match, Canterbury v. Wellington, will take place nl Wilding Park, on Monday, February 21st, commencing at 9.30 a.m The Canterbury team for this match will be as follows: Men:—G. Ollivitr, I. A. Seay, T. W. Patterson, K. J. Walker, B. B. Louglinan, and C. Ancns. Ladies:—Miss M. Speirs, Mis* M. Wake, Mrs Beale, Miss K. Partridge, Miss Y. Kerricr, and Mrs Sharp. MATCH WITH SOUTH CANTERBURY. Tho annual Intor-Provincial match with South Canterbury has been arranged to tako place at Wilding Park on Saturday, February 26th. South Canterbury is to l.t! represented by its strongest team. SUBURBAN CHAMPIONSHIP, TOURNAMENT. • This tournameht will commenco on the hard courts at Wilding Psrk on Saturday 26th, so that with the South Canterbury match in progress there will probably bo over 30 courts engaged simultaneously on that day.
