SATURDAY'S PICNICS.
CROWDS LEAVE THE CITY. Just on 3450 people spent Saturday at the various picnic resorts in Canterbury, and several special trains were commissioned to carry them to their destinations. Traffic was particularly heavy oil the Lyttelton line, special trains being run to take spectators to the Sanders Cup races. The list of picnio parties, the resorts visited, and the numbers which travelled are as follows: —Crown Boot Factory, Lyttelton, 50; Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Co., Ltd., 600, f r ?P' Christchurch to Aaliburton and ouO from Kaiapoi to Ashburton, two trains; Bunting's Brush Factory, Lyttelton, 150; Pavnter and Hamilton, Oxford, 2-50: A. ,T.
