PERSONAL. Mr George Lcvcns leaves Temuka today for Dunedin to represent the Temuka Bowling Club at the tournament to be held at Dunedin on Saturday. Mr G. Judson, Borough Overseer, who has been spending his annual vacation at Christchureli and Dunedin, returned to Temuka on Tuesday. Mrs G. W. Armitago, who has been on a visit to Dunedin, has returned to Temuka. Angling. A visitor to Tomuka from Christchurch recently camped on tho banks of the Temuka river, and spent a month tingling, and so excellent was tho sport that he was successful in landing 200 fino trout during that period. Tarring and Sanding. The Borough Council gang has completed the tarring and sanding of tho sides of King street, and yesterday wero engaged in attending to the footpath and space in front of the Public Library and the fire station. Temuka Band. The secretary of tho Temuka Municipal Band reports that correspondence has been received from the Geraldine Brass Band, stating that they will be coming to Temuka on tho 20th inst., to givo sacred concerts during tho afternoon and evening, in aid of the instrument fund of the Temuka Band.

GERALDINE. Tho monthly meeting of the Gcrnldino District High School Committee was held recently. Present: Messrs A. M. Fytc (chairman), J. T>. McKechnie, M. G. Williams, F. Wallach, G. H. Patrick, D. Hatton, E. Whito and Dr. G. W. Curtis. Arrangements for tho school picnic, to be held to-morrow, were discussed. Mr McKechnie reported having made arrangements with carriers for the transport of adults and children from Oeraldinc to Orari. Tho headmaster, Mr F. Peter, reported that the school had opened on February Ist with attendance of 243 in tho primary, and 72 in tho secondary departments. Tho roll numbers at*present wero 260 primary, and 81 secondary. It was decided to ask Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., to be present at the picnic, and to bring before him at some future date tho need for increased accommodation in the High School. Messrs A. M. Fyfc and McKcchuio wero appointed a visiting committee for the month. 1 The weather, with tho exception of a strong nor'-west wind, which blow during the week-end, continues to bo exceptionally fine and conducive to harvesting operations, which arc, now in full swing. ST. ANDREWS. Reaping is going on apace, and some fine paddocks of stooks aro to be seen. Contrary to expectations, the oat crops as a whole are splendid, and some farmers anticipate record yields. Oat crops grown by Mr C. S. Johnson at "Bonnyrigg," and by Mr Hi. B. b. Johnstone at Springbank, promise to break all records. Mr C. S. Johnson s should thresh in the neighbourhood ot 120 bushels an acre. On opening «p tho oat crops it was found that very few had escaped rust, although, on account of the late appearance of _ the latter, vcrv few oats were materially affected, the kernels being full anil plump. , il. Fishing has recommenced on .rue beach and good catches of cod herring, arid liawai are being reported.
