DISTRICT COUNCIL. A meeting of the District Council of tha Workers' Educational Association met last Light, Mr H. D. Acland presiding. Professor J. Shelley was appointed a delegate to tho annual conference; Tho report of the Summer School, held at Arthur's Pass, stated that the total number Which attended tho school was 93. Front practically every angle it had been a great' success. It was suggested that the Trada Unions should allow scholarships to one or two of their members to enable them to attend future .Summer Schools. The thanks of the Council were extended to all who had holpcd to make the school a. success. Tho report was adopted. It was decided that tho delegates be instructed to support tho Wellington Council's remit to the annual conference: "That tho four district councils bo each allowed a maximum of 10 pages and tho Cominion Council 5 pages in the annual report." A motion was passed that the Mayor bo asked to accord tho visiting debgates to tho annual conference, which will bo held on February 26th, a civic reception, and that lie also bo asked to preside at the convention in the evening. A programme for tho coming session, drawn up by the secretary, was approved. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the Into Mr Williams, Timaru.
