SUMNER PICNIC COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Sumner Borough Picnic Committee was held last night. Present: Mr A. Weastcll (chairman), Mrs F. Barber (secretary), Mrs E. A. Johnson, and Hessro Moore. 3. S. Young, H. M. Williams, J. Browne. G. F. Allen, H. D. Bateß, W. Duff, and B. Pye. The Railway Department advised that the train would leave the station at 9.80 a.m., and leave Dunsandel on the return journey at 5.25 p.m., arriving in the City at 6.23 p.m.
It was decided to circulate the tickets on Thursday, the arrangement to be left to Messrs Williams and Allen. The secretary reported that all arrangements at Duneandel had been completed for a supply of hot water and milk.
The following Train Committee was elected—Messrs Weastcll, Bates, Mathews, and Williams. Mr Bates, reporting for the Sports Committee, states that promises in cash and kind for the races, etc., amounted to about £l2. A benefit picture chow had been arranged for, and it was hoped to increase the funds to £3O. A good programme of sports was being arranged, and it was hoped to cater specially for tho youngest children In tho matter of gifts. Mr Bates's offer to show the prizes In his window was accepted with thanks, and the names of Met«rs Browne, Duff, Williams, and Mathews were added to the Sports Committee.
Providing the use of the swimming baths could be obtained. Mr J. Browne offered to take chargo of the bathing and swimming. It was reported that both the Bowling and Croqnet Clubs were endeavouring to organis-t teams for the day, and it was hoped to arrange for cricket and tennis.
