UNEMPLOYMENT.

DEPUTATION TO APPROACH MINISTER. There was an increase in Uie number of applications for work at the Government Labour Bureau yesterday, sixteen married men with 48 dependents, and six single men registering. They comprised two bakers, two gardeners, two carpenters, one butcher, one boilor attendant, one seaman labourer, 12 labourers, and one woollen spinner. During the day work was found for two gardeners and one labourer. The unemployed held a tion in Victoria square yeserday morning, speeches being made by men prominent in advocacy for work for the unemployed. It was decided, at tho conclusion of the meeting, to approach the Minister for Labour (the Hon. Mr Anderson) when ho is next in Christchurch. Another demonstration will be held this morning.
