MIRACULOUS ESCAPE.
——♦ CAR FALLS FIFTY FEET. (THE TRESS Special Service.] AUCKLAND, February 4. A remarkable escape from injury was experienced by motorists at Norths!te this afternoon when their car fell 00 feet over mi embankment on to tho beach. It was u live-seatcr car owned and driven by Mr W. J. Weeks, ol Exmouth road" Norlhcotc, who was accompanied by his wife and daughter.
Mr Weeks, who is over 70 years of •igo, was turning the vehicle when suddenly the steering gear became locked and the car with its occupants jumped the concrete kcrbing, crossed the footpath, knocked over the protecting post and wire fencing, ran backwards down an incline, and toppled over the stono wall, falling CO feet to tho beach below. 'flic car turned over on its side when it fell. None of the occupants was injured, but .Mrs Wee'-s suffered somewhat from shock. The car was considerably damaged.
