SECOND ROUND. Sevolti:— B»?wyn 8 beat St. Albani 0. Teeonleal i drew with Sydenham 1. The second round of the Canterbury Hockey Allocation's competitions wae played on Saturday. The grounds were in fintelass order, and the weather all that could be deiired. Selwyn defeated a weak St. Albani team by three foals to nil, and Sydenham and Technical played a drawn game, one goal each. The following are the points:—

St. Albans v. Selwyn. The game at Hagley Park between St. Albans and Selwyn started off very evenly, and lor a time St. Albans held their own. In the second spell, however, the Selwyn team showed better combination, and had the best of the spell. St. Albans gained possession from the opening bully, and rushed play into the Selwyn circle. C. Hore returned, and W. Bell headed a Selwyn rush which was stopped by a breach. Franklin and Quartermain were prominent in a St. Albans movement which reached Selwyn's scoring area, but Dickson sent play back with a hard drive to halt-way. The roll-In gave Stead an opening which wbb lost, and shortly after Bell put in a high shot which cleared the net. Quartermain put in a solo run, but his pats was not accepted, and Hill and Stead opened a left wing attack for Selwyn, which was stopped by Soper. Selwyn persisted, and a neat centre by Stead gave S. Bell a chance to open the scoring with a good shot. Selwyn 1, St. Albans 0. Graham set the St. Albans forwards moving, but C. Hore returned play to midfteld. Poor, fielding lost a golden opportunity for St. Albans, but a struggle in Selwyn'e circle ended in Hole netting from an offside position. The scores at half-time were: Selwyn 1, St. Albans 0. The second spell opened with a sensational run by Bell, who received the ball from bully and Sent in a hard shot which A. Luxton fielded. Bell followed iu quickly and Scored. Selwyn 2, St. Albnns 0. Selwyn made several combined onslaughts on their opponents' goal, but G. Graham and Soper defended well, and for a ttme play was kept in midfleld. Selwyn persisted, and Stead netted on two occasions from offside positions. St. Albans made a determined effort to open their score, and a chance to Franklin wag stopped by Mahoney. The St. Albans team rallied, and a lengthy scramble ensued in Selwyn's end without result. Shortly before time Lufton stopped n good shot from S. Bell, but a few minutes later Stead netted the third goal for Selwyn, the final score being: Selwyn 3, St. Albans 0. The referees were Messrs H. Throp and H. Luxton. Technical t. Sydenham. Playing at Lancaster Park, Technical and Sydenham contested a drawn game, which was really in favour of Technical. The opening stages were taken up with Sydenham attacking strongly without result. Hill and Teague broke away for Technical and gained a corner, but "sticks" by Scott gave a relieving free hit. Technical had their opponents penned in the circle, but two breaches gave relief. A hot shot by Coffey was well stopped by Snooks, and shortly alter McDonald 1 sent the Sydenham forwards away, but C, Sogers intercepted, and play returned to Sydenham's circle, where a succession of fruitless corners were taken. The Technical forwards pressed play into Sydenham's scoring area, and Hahn found the net with a good shot. A centre by B. Rogers gave Technical an opening which McDonald relieved. The half-time score was: Technical 1, Sydenham 0. The second spell opened in favour of Technical, who lost a certain goal by not following in. C. James cleared the Sydenham circle, and Ward set the'forwards going, only to see Larsen hit behind. Sydenham came again, and this time Larsen made no mistake. Teague headed a Technical attack which was stoppod by Dash. A combined Technical attack was stopped by Ward finding the line. Technical came back and reached the Sydenham circle, where a fruitloss scramble enBiied. B. Sogers gave Coffey an opening, but the latter missed the net by inches. Shortly after. Snooks, the Sydenham goalkeeper, saved a hot one from Coffey. Pragnell and Larsen headed n Sydenham rush, which was stoppod by C. Rogers, and Technical returned to the attack, Coffey hitting the post ■with a hard shot. The final score was:— Technical 1, Sydenham 1. The referee waa Mr C. Bellamy. Junior Grade.
