" THE GLORIOUS DEAD." HIS MAJESTY'S MESSAGE. (rRESS ASSOCIATION TtLKGEAU.) AUCKLAND, April 23. The Governor-General has been commanded by the King to communicate to tho people of New Zealand, on the occasion of Anzac Day, the following message from his Majesty: — On this day of remembranco and thanksgiving, the thoughts of the Queen and myself are with our people of New Zealand in their commemoration of tlio Glorious Dead. OBSERVANCE TOMORROW. PROCESSION AND SERVICES. To New Zealanders one of tho most impressive days of the year ia Anzrio Day, and arrangements have been ruado to observe the commemoration to-mor-row in a fitting manger. The procession will march off from Cranmer equare, at 2 p.m., under the command of Colonel Hugh Stewart and Captain W. E. Lascelles, and the route will be as under: —Chester street to Victoria, street, down Colombo street, along Cashol street; halt for one minute at the Bridge of Remembrance, where a wreath will be placed, the parade marching with uncovered heads across the Bridge to King Edward Barracks, where tho Citizens' Memorial Service will commence »at 2.30.

The procession will assume the f6l- - order:—Woolston Band, gun carriage, firing party, wreath-bearers, disabled soldiers, old veterans, Municipal Band, nurses, Veterans' Association, Caledonian Society's Pipo Band, returned soldiers (Australia, New Zealand, and ex-Imperial), Linwood Salvation Army Band, Territorials and band, Cadets, Boy Scouts, and Girl Guides. The service will be held at the King Edward Barracks, where the Mayor (Mr J. K. Archer) will preside. The Hon. L. M. Isitt, M.L.C., will give an address, and the lesson will be read by tho Et. Eev. the Bishop of Christchurch, Dr. West-Watson. Canon W. S. Bean, Revs. L. B. Neale, L. Blamires, C. A. Fraer, and Major Bean (Salvation Army) will assist in the service. A choir of 100 voices, under the baton of Mr Sidney Williamson, will sing the hymns, accompanied by Derry's Military Band. The "Last Post" will be sounded by Sergeant-Major F. Fox and ex-Quarter-Master Sergeant H. Fox. Madame Gower-Burns will sing the solo, "I Know that My Eedeemer Liveth." After the service the parade will fall in again in Cftshel street, and march along Oxford teriaco and Worcester street to the Cathedral, where the wreaths will be received. At St. John's Latimer square, there will be a special service in the evening, at which the preacher will be the Eight Eev. the Lord Bishop of Christchurch. At the Holy Trinity Church, Avonside, the Eev. Honi Parata will preach at both the morning and the evening services. Mr Parata was chaplain to all the Maori reinforcements during th 6 war, and had the honour of preaching the Armistice sermon in France. A short memorial service will be held in the Memorial Shrine, Boys' High School, Biccarton, at 10 a.m. Parents and friends of fallen soldiers may place wreaths on the Bridge of Eemembrohce on Anzac Day. Two stands will be pjated there for that purpose.
