PHILPSON TENT.
The Philipson Ten Independent Order of Rechabites celebrated its fifteenth anniversary in the Sydenham Football Club's Hall, Lawson street, in the presence of two hundred members and friends. The hall was tastefully decorated by tho Sisters of the Tent. Bro. Judkins' Orchestra provided excellent music for the dancing, whilst Brothers 3. Tootell and J. Bayliss made efficient M.C.'s. Mrs Stallard and Sister Jean Murchie gave every satisfaction as judges of a song in character competition, which resulted as follows:—Esmae Evans and Ronald Foster, equal 1; Melva Cater 3. Congratulatory addresses were given by Brother C. H. Bascand, P.P.C.R., District Levite, and Brother J. Smith, Provincial Chief Ruler. Brother Martin, secretary, presented to Sister M. Abbott a Past Chief Ruler's Collar, in recognition of the capable manner in which she had discharged her duties as Chief Ruler of the Tent. Sister Abbott briefly returned thanks. The annual report, which was read during the evening, stated that the Tent had made good progress during the year. The sickness had been less than the previous year and the finances were in a healthy condition. Refreshments were handed round by the Sisters of the lent, after which dancing was continued till midnight, when the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought to a close a most successful anniversary.
