EGG-LAYING.
A WORLD'S RECORD. A. social was held last evening, at which the shields, medals, blue ribbons, and certificates won by members of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club at the Dominion egglaying competitions, recently held at Papanui, wera presented. Mr R. W. Hawke presided. Mr H. Williams, one of the prize-winners, has established u world's record. Ho owns a White Leghorn which has produced Mo eggs in 3G5 days. The previous world's re cord was 343 eggs, established at Cratton College, Queensland. The Utility Leghorn Shield was won by Caldcr Bros., of Oamaru, and tho Orpington Shield by 0. A, Grainger. Sixty-four certificates were presented, and also blue ribbons for tho winners in the vonng bird show. These were as follow:—Best doten hen eggs, E. V. Crouch; heavy breed cockerel, T. Loveday; heavy breed pullet, L. J. Knowles; Indian Runner, T. Bond; light breed pullet, J. Taylor; light breed cockerel, H. W. Piule.
