(press jssociatioh telegram.) . WELLINGTON, March 9. At the Coroner's inquest into the death of Captain Sargent, aged 70, who succumbed at hospital to injuries received through falling off the rear of a tramcar when in motioif, it was stated that the deceased was standing at the back of e car. The conductor was inside collecting fares, and when returning he saw the deceased lurch as the car swept round a corner, and fall over tho safety bar at the side. The conductor reached forward and endeavoured to save Sargent, but deceased went over, his feet striking the crossbar as he fell. His injuries were serious, and later he succumbed after admission to the general hospital. Further evidence has still to be heard, and the inquest stands adjourned.
