A DEADLOCK.
VICTORIAN TAXATION. DISSOLUTION EXPECTED. (BY CABLE—PSESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIA AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MELBOURNE, December 18. The Legislative Council refused to sanction the proposed increased taxation, and returned the Bill to the Assembly, with the suggestion that last year's rates should still obtain, and that increases be abandoned. The Assembly refused and sent the Bill back to the Council. The Council, however, reaffirmed its previous procedure, and returned the measure to the Assembly,
During the debate the Minister of Forests said that if the Council persisted in its attitude, the Government would he unable to carry on. A dissolution is expected.
