HOME TOO LATE.
SIX NURSES DISMISSED. (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, November 26. Tho Hospital Board discussed at considerable length the caso of six hospital nurses dismissed for a breach of discipline in returning to the Nurses' Homo after hours. The nurses arrived back late, and instead of reporting themselves as lato and entering the building in tho usual way, they climbed tho fire-escape ladders and got to their respectivo quarters in that way. Some members of the Board thought tho nurses had been too severely punished for what was described as> an indiscretion. A member of the Board said that some of tho girls had been drinking. This was denied by the Medical Superintendent. A motion to rescind the original motion dismissiug the girls was defeated by 8 votes to 6. The Board said there was nothing to prevent the dismissed nurses from applying for re-appointment, and their applications would bo considered on their merits.
