CROQUET.
AORANGI V. ASHBURTON. The first senior pennant croquet match wae played on the Ashburton lawns yestci' day, when Aoraoigi (Timaru) met and defeated Ashburton by 194 points to IS6. Tho match waa commenced in the morning, to the accompaniment of loud and continuous claps of thunder and a light shower of mingled hail and snow. After this the rain held off till e. few minutes after the conclusion of tho play in the afternoon, when a. heavy shower fell. Two teams qf the Ashburton Club will visit Timaru next Thursday and play a pennant match and a junior flag match.
