Mr AVyvern Wilson, S.M. ; left' by I'ast night's jferry steamer Tor tho north. Mr G. B. Norwood, Mayor of Wellington. is staying at the United Service Hotel. Dr. Coleridge Farr, who has been on a visit ot Wellington, returned toChristchurcli yesterday morning. Mr AY. P. iSpeneer, officer in charge of educational buildings, arrived from Wellington, yesterday 'morning, and will spend a few days in Christchurcli. Messrs T. Simson (Auckland), J. E. Makgill (Auckland), E. G. Buchanan, and P .A. Hall (Wellington) are among the guests at the Clarendon Hotel. Messrs J. K. JeiTerd (Hastings), .T. A. Gilruth (Melbourne) and A. AV. Beardsall (Duncdin) arc at Warner's Hotel. Among the guests at the United Service Hotel are Messrs E. C. Chester (Wellington), L. F. Boyle (Wellington), W. A. Hislop (Wellington), V. A. Vertinan fDuncdin). and F. Binglcy (Melbourne). Mr James Barnes, chairman of -New South Wales Tattersalls' Club, Sydney, and a well-known sportsman, arrives this morning from the north 'and will remr:in over Carnival Week. Mr AV. A. Low', representing J. C. Williamson's Cappy Ricks Comedy Company, has arrived in Christchureh to make arrangements for the season, commencing on Monday, November Oth. Mr Geo. A. Green, organising secretary of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture and Association of Nurserymen, left for the north last night. Ho is due at Stratford on Saturday for the annuel meetings of the Taranaki nurserymen.
