FIRES.
BOARDING-HOUSE DESTROYED
(press association telegram.) • DAR/GAVILLJ2, August 10. The Ruawai boardmg-house, of VZ rooms, together with the furniture, eontents, and was totally destroyed by fire at midnight; The inmates escaped in their night attire. The adjoining premises of A. JD, Admore had a narrow escape, but good work by a bucket brigade was successful in saving them. The building was of wood and an old landmark. The insurances are £2OoO on the building and £SOO on tho furniture.
A SUSPICIOUS OUTBREAK.

NAPIER, August 10. t Fire at C. and A. Qdlin's timber mill in Hastings this evening destroyed modern machinery valued at about £9OO. A motor-lorry saved from the building .was found to have the seat over the benzine tank removed, and the cap of the tank was missing. The circumstances, therefore, arc considered suspicious.
